January 28, 1839
DIED: On Saturday the 19th inst., at the advanced age of 98, Mr. David Scott, the oldest inhabitant of this township. He was one of the last (perhaps the very last) survivor of those who, more than 80 years ago, served in the British Army, under Amherst and Wolfe, at the capture of Louisburg. On Sunday morning, 20th inst., Benjamin, infant son of Mr. Charles Lewis, aged 10 months. At Pictou, on the 14th inst., in the 45th year of his age, John H. Noonan, Esq., H.M. Sub-Collector of the Customs at that port.

MARRIED: On the 31st ult., by the Rev H. Harding, Mr. James Churchill to Miss Eliza Byrne. On the 3d inst., by the same, Mr. Thomas Parfitt of this place, to Mrs. Miriam Crowell of Barrington. On the 5th, by the same, Mr. William Hatfield, to Miss Bathseba Barrows. On the 7rh, by the same, Capt Oliver Healey, to Miss Almira Kinney - and, Mr. Joseph Ellenwood, to Miss Rebecca Ann Ellis. SHOCKING ACCIDENT BY FIRE - Last Thursday morning, Maria Helen, aged 3 years and 6 months, daughter of Mr. Foster Crosby, Chebogue, having been left for a few minutes with another child in a bedroom, at the house of her grandfather, Mr. John Crosby, her clothes communicated with the fire in the stove - the screams of the children were heard by a person in the adjoining room, who ran in and found the little girl in a blaze, which he extinguished by covering her with a quilt, but the little sufferer was so much injured that she lived only 19 hours after.

MARRIED: On Monday last, by the Rev Petithomme, Mr. Daniel Gorman, tailor, to Eliza, eldest daughter of Mr. William Delaney. DIED: On Saturday evening last, Mrs. Mercy Murphy, wife of the late John Murphy, aged 72 years. At Shelburne, on the 4th inst., Mrs. Hannah, wife of Dr. Alexander Jamieson.

MARRIED: On Tuesday last, by the Rev. W. Burton, Mr. Horace Porter, to Miss Mary, daughter of Mr. Israel Lovett. Thursday, by the same, Capt. Norman Porter, to Miss A?illa, daughter of Mr. James B. Dane. DIED: At sea, on board the brig Sir Peregrine, on the 28th January, Mr. George McDaniel, seaman, a native of Manchester, NS, in the 22d year of his age. His chest and clothes can be obtained by his friends on application to Capt Crosby or Capt B. Rogers.

MARRIED: On Saturday the 2d inst., by the Rev Wm. Burton, Mr. John Raymond, to Miss Mary Jane, daughter of Mr. James Neel. On Sundau, the 3rd by the Rev H. Harding, Mr. William H. Redding, to Miss Mary Leby Morehouse. DIED: At Chebogue, on the 19th ult., Mrs. Mary Lee Clemens?, wife of Capt Elkanah Clements 3d, and daughter of Mr. Amos Hilton.

DIED: At Argyle, on the 6th March, Mr. Jeremiah Spinney, son of Mr. Jacob Spinney, of Argyle, aged 28 years, after a painful and lingering illness. Though in the prime of manhood, he was enabled through divine grace, to give up the partner of his bosom, and his two children, to the care and protection of Him, who is the widow's God, and a father to the orphan. -Communicated.

MARRIED: On Wednesday the 20th ult., by the Rev Harris Harding, Mr. William Bain, to Miss Lydia Ann Patten. DIED: At Chebogue, on Wednesday last, in the 53d year of his age, Mr. Nathaniel Holmes, after a short and painful illness. In the death of Mr. Holmes, the community in which he lived has lost a kind and good neighbour, the Church of Christ on earth a worthy and honourable member, and his a?llicted family an affectionate husband and tender parent.

MARRIED: At Honolulu, one of the Sandwich Islands, on the 12th May last, by the Rev J. Diell, Missionary there, Mr. Benjamin Franklin Church, to Maoki, Princess of Melekat. This marriage in high life must be interesting to some of the ladies of St. Andrews, who must feel proud of the preference given by their former beau, late of the Chamcook Paper Mills, to the copper-coloured charms of his royal squaw, over the blue noses and white skins of New Brunswick. There is no disputing about taste. - St. Andrew Standard.

MARRIED: On Monday last, by the Rev H. Harding, Mr. James Cain, to Miss Margaret Hannah, daughter of Mr. Ebenezer Eldridge. On Wednesday evening last, by the Rev Mr. Burton, Mr. Calvin Wyman, to Miss Mary, daughter of the late Capt William Brown.

DIED: At Milton, on Saturday last, Miner Huntington, Esq., aged 76. Mr. H. was a native of Connectieut, and came to Yarmouth 50 or 60 years ago. His strong mental talents, his amiable disposition, and indefatigable attention to all he undertook, soon procured him the public confidence, and he became one of the most useful business men in this part of the country. Beside other places of trust, he for a long series of years filled the responsible officies of Surveyor of Land and Prothonatory, both of which, the increasing infirmities of age obliged him some time since to relinquish to his son, the Representative of this County, who is now on his passage to England, as one of the Delegates from the House of Assembly. He held a Captain's commission in the Militia from the first formation of this Battalion, and was a most efficient officer during the last American War. At the Covo, on the 10th inst., James Albert, eldest son of Mr. Ebeazer Johnston, aged 5 years and 10 months.

MARRIED: Feb 5, at True Blue Estate, Crooked Island, Bermuda, under Special license from the Lieutenant Governor, Nelson, eldest son of Daniel Moss, Esq., to Miss L.J. Collie; George, second son of Daniel Moss, Esq., to Miss Sylvia Wier; Samuel, third son of Daniel Moss, Esq., to Miss Farquharson; Israel, fourth son of Daniel Moss, Esq., to Miss Sophia Meadows - also, Mr. William Hannah, to Frances, eldest daughter of Daniel Moss, Esq., and Mr. Richard Hannah, to Caroline, third daughter of Daniel Moss, Esq. - Bermuda Gaz. DIED: On the 14th ult., Israel Kelly, son of Capt Nelson Hammond, aged 1 year and 8 months.

MARRIED: On Thursday last, by the Rev Mr. Harding, Mr. Henry Lavers, to Miss Mehetable Mercy, youngest daughter of the Rev Mr. Harding. At Barrington, on Sunday the 12th inst., by the Rev James Knowlan, Mr. James Cox, jun., to Mrs. Esther, widow of the late Captain George Doane. DIED: At Digby Neck, on the 23d ult., John Morehouse, Esq., aged 78 years, one of the oldest Magistrates of the Province.

DIED: On Wednesday last, at the residence of her son, Mrs. Lucy Redding, aged 75 years, a native of Gloucester, in the state of Mass. On Friday, the 10th inst., Mrs. Sarah Perry, wife of Mr. Cyrus Perry, Sen., aged 72 years.

MARRIED: At Digby, on the 12th inst., by the Rev Mr. Veits, L.D. Morten, Esq., Barrister, to Miss Noble, only daughter of the late Mr. James Noble. DIED: On Wednesday last, Mr. John Muekelroy, in the 43d year of his age. The funeral will take place today at one o'clock.
