At Windsor, on Sunday, August 4th, the Rev. William Cockran, D.D. aged 77 years. He was a native of Ireland, and a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. He left his native country soon after completing his education, and went to the United States, where he imparted classical instruction to many who are now ornaments of science and literature in different parts of the Union. Soon after his arrival in Nova Scotia, he was invested with the charge of the College, or as it then was Academy, at Windsor, and has continued Vice President of that Institution since the granting of the Royal Charter, in 1802, till within two years past, when his increasing infirmities compelled him to resign a charge which had been productive of so much credit to hikself, and advantage to a numerous portion of the youth of the Province. His memory will be fondly cherished by numbers who have received instruction at his hands, and have found in him not the morose tutor, but the agreeable companion, the fatherly adviser, the zealous teacher, the staedy friend. He had been gradually sinking for some months past, and at last quietly and peaceably surrendered his soul to Him who gave it, in the full hope of a glorious resurrection.

MARRIED: At Halifax, on Thursday 17th inst., by the Reverend The Lord Bishop of Nova Scotia, Joseph Telford, Esq., 96th regt., son of W. Telford, Esq., of Grandville, Queen's County, Ireland, to Caroline Frances Maria, daughter of the late Colonel Welsford.
DIED: At Jebogue, on the 16th inst., Mr. Henry Clements, aged 35 years to a day. At three months old Mr. Clements lost his eyesight, and continued blind until the day of his death. At 20 years of age divine light poured upon his mind, and his mental eye discovered the beauties of holiness; he exulted in the light of salvation, and became a member of the Presbyterian Church. For 11 years he lived in the community where he first felt the power of God unto salvation, giving the most unequivocal testimony of the purity of the religion which he had embraced. At the age of 31 he went to Eastport, where he was urged by the friends of his church to take an active part in their religious meetings. From thence he was sent to the Westward as far as Portland, in the character of a Missionary; during which tour he preached in sixty-five different towns and villages. Thus this son of God, incapable himself of viewing the beauties of the landscape, or the radiance of the sun, called the attention of listening crowds to the moral grandeur of the cross of Christ, and to the glories of everlasting light. Sinking beneath bodily exhaustion, Mr. C. returned on the 13th September last, to the place of his nativity, filled with gratitude to God, and an eminent degree of Christian love to all ranks of people amongst whom he had travelled in the United States. In his last moments he expressed the strongest assurance of the Divine favor, and in death gave another testimony to the faithfulness of God, who has promised to illumine the passage from time to eternity, with the light of his presence. He has left an aged mother, a brother and two sisters, with a numerous circle of friends, to morn his loss.
